Mexico Attractions: Visit Valle de Bravo

Just 90 miles west of México City lies Valle de Bravo. Perched on a hilltop, in a beautiful pine forest away from the smog and traffic of México City. Less than two hours away, Valle is one of the favorite places for city residents to spend weekends and holidays and for tourists to visit. This old colonial Mexican town sits hillside and overlooks the pleasant Lake Avándaro.

The lake is a perfect place for sailing, water skiing, fishing and other water sports. It is an artificial lake which makes it smooth and peaceful. Boats can be rented in the small marina, near the dock. The Municipal Boardwalk and Dock, located on the lake, is a great place to walk around as there are restaurants and displays by local artists.

For those looking to go hiking, mountain biking, camping or just exploring, Valle de Bravo has it all. The hills of the area make Valle de Bravo a great place for the adventurous. It is also possible to rent bicycle, horses and excursion boats to explore town and the outlying Mexican terrain.

Valle de Bravo lies near the Piedra Herrada Sanctuary, which is the wintering grounds for the Monarch butterfly. Millions of Monarch butterflies flock to the area from December to March. January is the best time to see them all, but butterflies can be seen in the wild all winter long.

The lake and nearby hills create the perfect place to paraglide in Mexico. You begin on a peak high in the mountains, sweep down through the valleys and land along the gorgeous lake. Several local companies are near by that give lessons and also rent equipment. In fact, Valle de Bravo is so popular for paragliding and hangliding that the 11th FAI World Paragliding Championship was held there in February 2009!

Mexico Rentals: Villa La Laguna in Cabo

Off the beaten path, past the lights of vacationing hot spots in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, you will find Villa La Laguna -- a luxurious and expansive six bedroom, six full bath, and 8,000 square foot villa of comfort and beauty.

The entrance to the grounds begins with a low stucco arch, where one can easily be swept away by La Laguna's rich character. The clean and airy design and captivating view of the Sea of Cortez make up the breathtaking beauty of this Cabo villa.

To the left, one discovers the first of six bedrooms, with glass doors that should be left open at night to take in the warm, rich, deep ocean breeze and be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the crashing waves. This bedroom has a queen sized bed and full private bath.

Above, four bedrooms, each with their own private baths and terraces that not only overlook all of La Laguna, but the private white sandy beach and the crystal blue rolling waves of the Sea of Cortez, hold views that can only be fully experienced by taking that well deserved vacation to Cabo San Lucas. Each room provides comforting beds that will leave you relaxed and rejuvenated during your stay. Two of the bedrooms have Queen sized beds, one room has a King sized bed, and one room has a Queen and Twin.

Back down in the courtyard begins the first tier of the infinity pool, with a 12 foot slide that goes down into the cool and refreshing waters of the second part of the pool. Here is the a perfect place to sit and enjoy that drink while contemplating the beauty of the ocean. An abundance of sun chairs and sun decks await days of relaxing under the sheltering sun and nights of entertaining under the glowing moon. There are 22 lounge chairs on the premises for you to get that tan. You will also find a full-service palapa-roofed bar, outside shower, a ten person Jacuzzi, fountains, and meticulously designed landscaping.

Along the south side of the villa grounds is the main building. an impressive fully equiped kitchen, a massive round dinning room table, an inside bar, living space and flatscreen TVs.

From this living area, stairs lead down to the Master Bedroom, a place to have a private massage and spa provided optionally by on-site staff. The room features a King sized bed and a private bathroom. The north and east facing walls of this main room are all glass sliding shutter doors which open up to turn the living room into one fluid outside/inside area. Attached to the Master Bedroom is a fully equipped entertainment room with large plush couches to enjoy any number of television and DVD programs on a large projected screen.

La Laguna also features a full gym, maid service and wireless internet.

The true beauty of Villa La Laguna comes at sunset, when the night sky is enflamed in reds, oranges, and purples, and these colors reflect off the azure waters of the Sea of Cortez. It is best enjoyed from the bedroom terraces, from the palapa bar, or while sitting in the infinity pool, when you can take in the panoramic view of the rising full moon on your left, sweeping along the Sea of Cortez, and the setting sun over the hills of the Pedragal.

Nightly rates for La Laguna are a flat rate of $3,200. Call 1-800-745-2226 for more information.
